El Arco's claim to fame is its totem pole cactus, a mutant of senita (Lophocereus schottii). Photo: David Seibert

All the totem pole plants are a single clone; it rarely flowers and cannot produce fertile seeds. The population is about two miles across. There are at least two more mutant populations that look similar.
