Riparian Communities

Three major types of wetland habitat are depicted here. Typical riparian communities are easily recognized and occur worldwide. Desert oases are special permanent or semipermanent water sources in arid habitats. Xeroriparian (=dry riparian) habitats are also unique to arid lands. They look like typical rivers or ponds for only brief periods
